Strong Enough for the Moment

I want to tell you something that hit me somewhere between hauling a backpack through airports, walking 20,000 steps a day, climbing steep trails, and keeping up with my family in Europe.

All those little things?

They worked.

The strength training.

The walks.

The mobility work.

The consistency.

The showing up when I didn't feel like it.

The lifting weights when nobody was watching.

The workouts that felt ordinary.

The ones that didn't seem to be changing much at all.

They worked.

Because here's the funny thing about health: most of the time, you don't get immediate proof.

You don't do one workout and suddenly feel transformed.

You don't strength train for a month and suddenly think, "Wow! My life is completely different!"

The magic happens quietly.

Slowly.

One workout.

One walk.

One squat.

One deadlift.

One class.

One year at a time.

And then one day you're halfway across the world and it hits you.

WOW.

I feel strong.

I feel capable.

I feel healthy.

I feel good.

I can do hard things.

Not because I trained for this specific trip.

Because I've been training for life.

As I travel with my family—my three adult children, ages 26, 25, and 23—I find myself feeling incredibly grateful that I can fully participate in these adventures.

The hikes.

The endless walking.

The stairs.

The wandering.

The spontaneous detours.

The "let's see what's over there" moments.

I can say yes.

Not because it is easy.

Because I am strong enough to do it.

And honestly?

I have serious FOMO when it comes to my family.

I don't want to be left behind at the hotel because the hike is too hard.

I don't want to skip the adventure because my body can't keep up.

I don't want to miss the conversations.

The stories.

The laughter.

The debates about World Cup soccer.

The discussions about the Austrian Empire.

The way my adult kids think about the world.

The way they connect ideas and challenge each other and teach me things.

THIS is what matters.

Being present matters.

But being able to DO the moment matters too.

Especially in midlife.

Especially as we age.

Especially when our children become adults and the opportunities to be together become fewer and more precious.

Strength isn't about looking a certain way.

Strength is about participating in your life.

It's about saying yes when the opportunity shows up.

It's about confidence.

Capability.

Freedom.

It's about knowing that when life calls, your body can answer.

And if you're reading this and feeling like you've started sitting out some of the things you'd like to do...

If you've stopped hiking.

Stopped traveling confidently.

Stopped chasing adventures.

Stopped believing your body can do hard things...

Then maybe it's time.

Not for perfection.

Not for punishment.

Not for a six-week crash plan.

Just time to start building strength.

One workout at a time.

One week at a time.

One season at a time.

Because I promise you this:

The workouts you're doing today may not feel life-changing.

But one day you'll find yourself somewhere beautiful, doing something hard, surrounded by people you love.

And you'll realize that all those small things added up.

You'll realize you've been training for this moment all along.

Summer Strength started this week.

Build the strength that allows you to say YES.

To the hike.

To the trip.

To the adventure.

To the conversation.

To the life you want to live.

Because the goal isn't just to be healthy.

The goal is to be strong enough to participate fully in the moments that matter most.Link to sign up for Summer Strength is here
