Falling Gently Into January

In a nutshell, Christmas was nutty and sublime—overwhelming and overjoyful, imperfect and perfectly full, treasured and kept.

“Expect the unexpected” became our motto this year. We did our best to fill our home abundantly full while trying to keep everyone warm, safe, nourished, and happy.

There was no pause for the cousins, aging from 13 to 26. The energy was constant, loud, vibrant. But there was a gentle pause to listen to grandparents’ reflections and histories—the stories that slow time and remind us who we are.

There was no pause in the kitchen. But there was a gentle pause at the table—for blessings, prayers, and song.

There was no pause in the Christmas music. I’m pretty sure we hit every decade, genre, and playlist imaginable. And yet, there were a few early quiet mornings—shimmering Christmas lights, a golden roaring fire, the kind of stillness that settles into your bones.

There was no pause on laughter. Loud voices. Multiple conversations at once. Background music for card games and old-school Pictionary. But there was a pause to say: let us walk, let us retreat, let us settle and regroup.

The wisdom, I’m learning, is in the wellness of understanding what your people need—what you need—and how to serve, relish, and love, all at the same time you are trying to do this for yourself.

That’s not easy.

And even though I am doing it better each year, I still suck and fail at some things—especially when it comes to asking for help.

I’m heading into this new year FULL.
Full of family time, food time, fun time, card time, conversation time—and all the messy in-between.

But I am also exhausted.
And ready to retreat and restore.

For me, restoration looks like routine:

  • Journaling each morning

  • Working out consistently

  • Five minutes of KinStretch flow each day

  • Water before coffee

  • A green smoothie to reset

I’m looking forward to the new year because I am choosing to fall gently into January’s folds—softly, easily, with grace for myself.  When I follow my routine above, I am better prepared for my work day, which is dedicated accountability to and for my clients, like you.

And so, as we step into the new year, I invite you to carry a little of this pause, presence, and intentionality with you. At Method 25, we focus on building habits, routines, and nutrition practices that support your wellness—not just during the holidays, but all year long. This 8 Week Nutrition program will leave you feeling well, energized and at ease for how to carry on with a plan.

Whether you’re looking to feel more grounded, nourished, and confident in your body, or simply want to create space for yourself in the midst of family and life’s chaos, we’re here to guide you—gently, thoughtfully, and with accountability.

Let’s step into January together, softly, with purpose, and with grace.
